Children’s Ministries

At First United Methodist Church of Moore, there are many opportunities for youth to grow closer in their walk with Christ through fellowship, bible study, mission and worship.

  Vacation Bible School

Each year we celebrate Vacation Bible School with a week long evening program for children and adults of all ages. We use Cokesbury curriculum to enrich the biblical knowledge of participants. VBS is typically scheduled for sometime in June or July, and if you would like to see some great pictures of some of our previous VBS’s click here.

Summer Programs

During the summer the Education Committee offers a variety of children and family programs. Programs are designed to promote unity among church family as well as provide an educational and fun experience for participants. Programs vary from summer to summer. All programs are advertised through direct mail-outs and The Link, our church newsletter.

Acolytes & Bible Bearers

We feel that it is important for children to participate in the leadership of worship. All second graders have the opportunity to be Bible bearers, while 3rd-6th grade children have the opportunity to be acolytes. Training for these leadership roles is held at the end of each school year.

precious gift.
We provide pagers for parents so you
don’t have to worry that if you’re needed
your just a beep away!
Only nursery staff are allowed to be in the nursery area,
which makes sure everyone is safe & sound!

2-3 Year Old:

We have a special class for our “tadpoles”

who have been guiding our children with
love and laughter for years.
Come and learn
in the “park” classroom, complete

with trees & picnic tables!

They can go to worship service,
and after our “Children”s Moments”
they can go for
Tadpole Time. Here they will learn
special Bible messages just right for their age.

This class is for 4 and 5 year olds.
Come see our Kindergarten Class,
which has a built in Noah’s Ark,

Grades 1-6

Come Join Us!
Rotational Sunday School is a teaching model that takes the same Bible theme or story over a 5-7 week period, and teaches it with different methods, such as music, drama, games, crafts, computers, movies & history.
Each group has a “crew leader” who anxiously await the children’s arrival each week.
Classes are dismissed at 10:30am. The children will also have a mission project that goes with each “rotation”, which ranges from pennies for mission trips to teddy bears for children who have been the victim of fires, to blankets for the homeless.
The rotation model helps children really absorb the Bible message, and act it out through hands on mission so they know that even they can make a difference in the world.
Our 6th grade students are in year one of a two year confirmation program. This is a special time when children begin the transition to becoming members of the United Methodist Church, and the confirmation program will address many questions that young people ask along their faith journey.

The Life Enrichment Arts Program is an after-school program for children 1st grade-5th grade at Moore 1st UMC. We pick kids up from several elementary schools, while other parents and guardians choose to drive their children to the church. From 4:00pm-5:30pm, L.E.A.P. teaches children music, art, and life skills in a way that will enrich your child’s education and relationships.

L.E.A.P. is under the direction of Amy Sylvester and Amy Graves. Contact the church office or email for more information to get your child enrolled in L.E.A.P.
