The board shall provide for planning and implementing a program of nurture, outreach, witness, and resources in the local church. It shall also provide for the administration of its organization and temporal life. It shall envision, plan, implement, and annually evaluate the mission and ministry of the church. The church council / Administrative Board shall be amenable to and function as the administrative agency of the charge conference. Lay Leadership Committee - The charge of this committee is to identify, develop , deploy, evaluate, and monitor Christian spiritual leadership for the local congregation. Members of the committee shall engage in and be attentive to developing and enhancing their own Christian spiritual life in light of the mission of the church. In conducting its work, the committee shall engage in biblical and theological reflections on the mission of the church, the primary task and ministries of the local church. It shall provide a means of identifying the spiritual gifts and abilities of the membership. The committee shall work with the church council, or alternative administrative bodies, to determine the diverse ministry tasks of the congregation and the skills needed for leadership. Staff-Parish Relations Committee - The Staff Parish Relations Committee is concerned with staffing and church relations. The SPRC meets quarterly or as needed. People serving on this committee must be engaged in and attentive to their Christian spiritual development so as to give proper leadership in the responsibilities with which the committee is entrusted....
The committee shall reflect biblically and theologically on the role and work of the pastor(s) and staff as they carry out their leadership responsibilities. The committee shall assist the pastor(s) and staff in assessing their gifts and setting priorities for leadership and service. It is the responsibility of the committee to communicate with the committee on lay leadership and/or the church council when there is a need for other leaders or for employed staff to perform in areas where utilization of the gifts of the pastor(s) and staff proves an inappropriate stewardship of time. Finance Committee - The Finance Committee oversees the church finances, budgeting & stewardship. This committee meets the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Horizon room. ...All financial askings to be included in the annual budget of the local church shall be submitted to the committee on finance. The committee on finance shall compile annually a complete budget for the local church and submit it the the church council for review and adoption. The committee on finance shall be charged with responsibility for developing and implementing plans that will raise sufficient income to meet the budget adopted by the church council. It shall administer the funds received according to instruction from the church council.The committee shall carry out the church council's directions in guiding the treasurer(s) and financial secretary.
Trustees - The board of trustees supervises and maintains all property belonging to our congregation so that the ministries of the congregation can be effective. The committee is entrusted to see to the proper keeping of God's house as a way to honor God and to facilitate the ministry of the local church.
Nurture Ministries Education Committee - This committee deals with Sunday School, Disciple, VBS, Teacher Appreciation, Children’s Christmas Program, Confirmation, and additional education ministries. The meetings are the second Sunday of each month at 1:00 p.m. in the Friendship Classroom. Worship Committee - The Worship committee prepares the sanctuary and the sacraments to be used for Communion Sundays and other special days and Church seasons. Worship committee meets at 12:15 on the second Sunday of each month. Altar Guild- The Altar Guild prepares the place of worship (sanctuary). Includes placing banners, decorating for holidays, etc.
Communion Stewards- The communion stewards prepare the communion sacraments each month. Members serve on this committee for as long as they desire. Family Life Committee- This committee plans family activities including church picnic, All Saints Eve Carnival, retreats, Easter Egg Hunt, Fat Tuesday, etc. The Family Life Committee meets as needed.. Covenant Care Committee- Members of this committee visit and call on shut-ins, send cards to college students, and tend to the special care of recently hospitalized church members. The committee meets weekly for training and then as needed.
Youth Council Committee - The Youth Council is the governing body of the United Methodist Youth Fellowship. The Youth Council works alongside the youth director, youth sponsors, and parents to determine the direction of youth programs, mission and finances. A representative of each grade level votes on issues but membership on the council is open to all youth, sponsors and parents. Meetings are held as needed, monthly or bi-monthly. The Youth Council is chaired by a member of the youth group who meets with the youth director and sets the agenda for the meeting. Outreach Ministries Global Ministries - The Global Ministries Committee works with Volunteers in
Health and Welfare Committee - This committee is concerned with caring for the whole person. They schedule blood drives, provide medical equipment for loan to church members, and provide educational opportunities that speak to the needs of the church and community.
Witness Ministries Hospitality Committee- The Hospitality Committee members visit and call visitors to our church weekly, welcoming them and inviting them to join us in worship and various activities throughout the church.
Long Range Planning Committee- This committee is concerned with the long range planning of the church. Communications Committee - This committee is responsible for all of the communications of the church, including website, newsletter, advertising, signage, community relations, and any other item which would be appropriate to how we are perceived and what we want to communicate to the world as to who and what we are.
Memorial Committee - This committee is charged with carrying out families and church wishes as how memorial or honorary funds given in a persons name are handled. Endowment Committee- This committee is charged with handling the endowment gifts given and how those funds are distributed and used.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR MEMBERS INTERESTED IN OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE ON ONE OF THE ABOVE COMMITTEES - Committees are formed and appointments made the beginning of each calendar year by the Lay Leadership Committee. If you are interested in serving, contact the Committee Chair as listed on individual committee pages or one of the Nominating Committee members. WE NEED YOU! God has given each one of us Spiritual Gifts. Our task as Christians is to take that gift and return it in a way to praise and serve.
